Reine Mitri

Born in Lebanon where she lives and works, Reine Mitri is a writer, director and producer. The main concern of her films is memory, personal and collective memory. Always interweaving the intimate and the public, she delves into the reasons of personal malaise and the country’s malaise. Over the past 15 years she documented the changes in Beirut in particluar and Lebanon in general, challenging the official endeavours to obliterate the country’s memory. Her film “In this land lay graves of mine” that documents forced displacements in the civil war and the country’s present day divisions is banned by the censorship in Lebanon.
